2008 Non-Traditional Scholarship Winner

Debra Brewer
Each year, Benton Co.
Business and Professional Women (BPW) award a scholarship to a
non-traditional student—a young lady, 25 years of age or older, who
has decided to pursue a higher education. There are many avenues of
funding for high school students to follow, but resources are few
for the more mature student. At their monthly meeting on Monday,
April 28, Benton Co. BPW was pleased to present their scholarship to
a very deserving young lady, Debra Brewer, from Big Sandy. Her
husband, Chad, was present to support her. She also has a
9-year-old daughter, Makenzi.
Debra is in her second year
at Nashville State where she is majoring in education.
Debra has been working
part-time at Big Sandy School as a library assistant for 3 years.
Since she is always at the school, she decided to get her degree.
She would like to focus on children that are not quite ready for
Special Education classes and may fall between the cracks. When she
completes her degree in two years, she plans to begin work on her
Masters in Education.
The members of
Benton Co. BPW congratulate Debra and wish her the best of luck in
her studies.
